How My Sister Prioritizes Health As A 27-Year Veteran Nurse
With 27 years of dedicated experience as a Registered Nurse, I have developed a commitment to providing compassionate and attentive care while continually learning from the unique stories and experiences shared by my patients. Throughout my diverse career, I have witnessed firsthand how interconnected our physical health is with our emotional and mental well-being.
I firmly believe that the holistic way we care for our mind, body, and soul—through nourishing and balanced food, emotional support from loved ones, and essential self-care practices—directly impacts our overall long-term health and quality of life. Addressing emotional struggles is vital; they can manifest as physical health issues such as headaches, gastrointestinal problems, and heart or lung conditions. By prioritizing both our physical and emotional health, we empower ourselves and those around us to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Outside of work, I am genuinely passionate about fitness, viewing physical activity such as mountain biking and yoga as powerful and effective means to manage stress and maintain balance. Whether on the job or navigating through the various challenges that life presents, I consistently give 100 percent effort, always striving to improve my skills and support those around me in their personal and professional endeavors. I have learned that during long, demanding 12-hour shifts, it is essential to prepare high-quality foods to keep me properly fueled throughout my workday. I choose whole foods most of the time and make it a priority to pack my lunch for work. Additionally, I make a concerted effort to eat high-protein meals and always ensure I eat a nutritious breakfast to get my day started on the right track.
As a dedicated nurse, I take immense pride in helping my patients heal not just physically but also holistically, fully recognizing the significant importance of a well-rounded approach to health and overall wellness. Throughout my journey, I have learned, as I age, that nutrition, exercise, and prioritizing protein in my meals have become even more crucial aspects of maintaining good health. This comprehensive perspective allows me to effectively support my patients in achieving optimal health outcomes and enhances their quality of life in numerous dimensions. Health coaching is one insightful approach I actively utilize in caring for myself while simultaneously providing care for others.
